We're thinking of getting an English Springer Spaniel. Any thoughts on how this breed is with kids - how much exercise do they need and are they easy to train?

I have a 6 year old Springer Spaniel and she is a wonderful family pet! Great with kids and my two nieces (ages 3 & 5) were just in town visiting and she was awesome with them. One thing to mention is that she can get pretty excited so may unintentionally knock down a young child - just something to be aware of. My Springer Spaniel - named Emma - is very patient and protective. She is also very active, playful, loves to be outside and loves to interact with people. I have two other dogs and she gets along very well them - and I used to have 2 cats as well and never had a problem. Easy to train - actually never even had to house train her, she just knew. Very smart, great hunting dog. An excellent choice!

Temperament: English Springer Spaniel are generally friendly, eager to please, easy to train and very lively.
